Tired

Great night last night, few beers after work for a mate who's going on honeymoon for 4 weeks, lots of laughs then home and played a quick 180. Got my QQ cracked by AQ, lots of laughs (ahem) and then fell asleep. Am knackered today though, i can feel the need for some BACON coming my way.

Got a feeling I'll be playing a fair bit this drizzly weekend, and watching the breeders cup :o)

It's been round america, now its here

You are The Fool

The Fool is the card of infinite possibilities. The bag on the staff indicates that he has all he need to do or be anything he wants, he has only to stop and unpack. He is on his way to a brand new beginning. But the card carries a little bark of warning as well. Stop daydreaming and fantasising and watch your step, lest you fall and end up looking the fool.

What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.

Brain fart, that is all...

I kept my mouth shut this morning and my head down when I should have spoken up and defended someone. I feel bad enough about that to write it on here. I worry that the only reason I feel bad about it is because I was made to go to Sunday School and got that deep seated guilt about everything installed at an early age. Perhaps that is the only way anyone ever develops a moral compass, through nurture not nature.

Financial markets are ridiculous. How can you value confidence and buy and sell it as if it was some tangible item that you could make more of. As painful as it would be maybe the human race will need a depression to push us into the "Star Trek generation". How else would the cycle get broken ?

I think I am going to die by choking on red tape. The levels increase every day and I am certain it now takes 6 months to do something it took only 1 month to do when I started working 11 years ago. I am not in a happy workplace right now.

Sometimes I wish I'd never told my "IRL" friends about this blog. The stories both past and present for the rest of you would certainly be more interesting !

A girl interviewed on newsnight last night summed up my thoughts on the US Election
"If Obama doesn't get elected I think the world will be a lesser place, it won't ever be as great as it could have been."

This isn't intended to start a discussion in the comments, I'm just spouting for the sake of it, and hoping it helps me a little on this side.

And finally ….

Thanks Bam-Bam for the motivation thoughts last week ! They bring joy, happiness and motivation and I review them several times a day when I need inspiration !

Waxing political again

"And so, by employing the clever strategy of not answering anything properly, and then winking in the manner of a mid-market call girl, she emerged a sort of victor. Despite revealing the intellect and political experience of a whelk." - Rod Liddle the Times.
Sometimes politcal commentary is entertaining. Palin set the bar so low in interviews leading up the debate that she was successful just by showing up and not saying anything stupid. Hence she performed better than expected but not better than Biden. Republicans have now gone to their default position of when all else fails lie about your opponent and get dirty. Its worked before and could easily work again. If betfair had a market on the outcome I'd bet on McCain just so I had something to make me feel better if the Dems managed to screw it up again.
On the poker front I played a couple of SNG's (two seconds) and SWDP at the weekend. Didn't get anything going in SWDP but it was nice to see some familiar faces again including DrP, BamBam, WilW and Res. I've said it before I know, but I'm getting my groove back and autumn/winter season will hopefully be a poker season this year.

Read Change100 & Dr Pauly's coverage here http://www.pokernews.com/live-reporting/2008-wsope/main-event/id79601.htm#no79601

If we're having 20+ hour final tables isn't it time the final table days got split into a session 1 and session 2 ? Come on people give the players a break ! Just as we dont want to see a tourney settles on forced allins because of high blinds, we also dont want to see a tourney settled on exhaustion !

Morning

I'm not a morning person. You can imagine the kind of mood I'm in after being too tired to play last night, going to bed a 10.30, being woken by a car alarm that went on from 11.30 till 2am and then woken by the same car alarm at 5am because it was raining. I am tired. I am irritable. Today is a busy time at work too and I will be doing as little as possible trying to allow my brain to sleep with my eyes open. Hopefully I'll have recovered enough to sit and play some mini-donk-ments tonight.

Short n Sharp

Survived yesterday :o)

Played poker last night ! Yay ! 500 hands at NL$10, and only finished down $1.42, better performance than the stocks n shares :)

Short posts with less content may keep this blog alive in the coming weeks.

3 weeks & 3 days (-1) since I last had a cigarette. Every day contains challenging moments, but they soon pass. Sunday's slip is a distant memory.

Happy October ! Tis the season to moan about the weather
